I've heard many opinions on what “being natural” is, but
nothing stood out to me more than hearing someone say that being natural is
only for black people. After hearing that I had to question myself and see
where I stood on that opinion.
When I think about a natural person, the first thing that
comes to mind is someone whose hair is free of chemicals or what’s considered
to be creamy crack. Race shouldn't play a role in whether or not you are
natural. This is where having a texture chart becomes handy for me and helps
put a stamp on my view of why natural hair shouldn't be based on race. We all
have different curl patterns, whether we stem from the same tree or not.
Below you will find 4 women, 2 are Hispanic and 2
are West Indian. All 4 of these women are natural hair divas and each has their
own curl pattern. It shouldn't matter where you come from as long as you
embrace what was naturally given to you.
…until next time *No Lye*
